A block of public toilets in Uppingham town centre could soon be giving out cash.

Uppingham Town Council has applied to Rutland County Council concerning the toilets in Market Place.

The town council seeks to alter the layout of the existing public toilets to create space to install the ATM (cash machine) which will face out into the street.

The application said the exterior of building would not change except the location of doorways.

It added: "Because it will enhance the public amenities of the town (an extra cashpoint) without making significant changes to the building, the scheme is supported by Rutland County Council (Cllr Gordon Brown) as part of Rutland County Council divesting itself of this building."
