Rutland reported another coronavirus case, giving it a total of 28 confirmed cases.

The county continues to have the fourth best record of the lower tier local authorities, or districts, with it a rate of 70.5 cases per 100,000 of population.

This compares with an England-wide average of 248.5 cases per 100,000 of population.

NHS England also reported this afternoon that Lincolnshire has 19 more cases at 996, which compared with the 916 record just two days ago.

But despite the sharp rise since Monday, the county's largest in several weeks, the number of cases at 131.8 per 100,000 of population is still little more than have the country's average.

Among the districts, South Holland showed further strong growth, increasing by five to 184 confirmed cases, giving it a rate of 195.8.

South Kesteven is up one at 148 (104.3).

Melton is up one at 57 (111.5).

North Kesteven is up two at 127 (109.5).

Peterborough is up 46 at 341, with that large increase giving it a rate of 169.6 cases per 100,000 of population.

Meanwhile, three more coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Lincolnshire's hospitals today.

The United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust said the deaths in its hospitals involved an 84-year-old woman and two men aged 75 and 84, who all has pre-existing conditions.

It brings the total number of deaths at ULHT hospitals to 121.

The total comes as Lincolnshire County Council confirmed five more deaths at its care homes, bringing their total to 59.

No deaths were reported in Rutland Hospital and Peterborough City Hospital has yet to update its figures for more than a week.

Across the UK, the death toll increased by 494 to 33,186, with the number of confirmed cases increasing by 3,242 to 229,705.
