Vets in Rutland, Melton and South Kesteven have been helping an Oakham practice following an outbreak of Covid-19 last week.

The Oakham Veterinary Hospital reported the cases on its Facebook page on Wednesday, with several follow-up posts outlining how services have been affected.

The premises of the Small Animal Hospital in Ashwell Road also closed temporarily to allow a deep clean to take place.

Today the practice said the deep clean has now taken place but with reduced staff numbers, its services continue to be affected.

The practice posted on its Facebook page: "There may be times may need assistance to deliver veterinary care, several of our neighbouring practices have offered to assist us with providing routine and emergency veterinary treatment during the next 10 days and we are grateful for their support."
