A notice of election for the office of Rutland County Councillor was published on 7 August for Ryhall and Casterton Ward following the receipt of two requests from local electors.

The vacancy has arisen because Christopher Parsons did not meet the deadline to formally accept his position as a County Councillor following May's Local Government Elections.

The poll for the Ryhall and Casterton by-election will take place on 12 September 2019 between 7am and 10pm. The three candidates nominated are:

Richard Stephen Coleman, Conservative Party Candidate

Beverley Jane Helen Wrigley-Pheasant, Liberal Democrat

The deadline for receiving new applications to register to vote for this election is midnight on Tuesday, 27 August 2019. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

New applications to vote by post and any requests to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote must reach the council's Electoral Services Team by 5pm on Wednesday, 28 August 2019 in order to be valid for this election.

New applications to vote by proxy except on the grounds of a medical emergency must be submitted before 5pm on 4 September 2019.
