Five house burglaries in Oakham and Uppingham in one day

Five houses in Oakham and Uppingham were targeted by burglars on Monday (14 Oct).

Thieves broke into two homes in Stamford Road, Oakham, and three in Ayston Road, Uppingham in just a nine-and-a-half-hour period.

All the properties were secure and the burglars broke in through doors or windows to gain access.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "Officers are investigating three reports of burglary at three different addresses in Ayston Road, Uppingham. All three incidents are believed to have happened between 8.30am and 6pm.

"Items, including cash and jewellery, were stolen.

"We have also received two reports of burglary at two different addresses in Stamford Road, Oakham. They happened sometime between 8.30am and 5pm.

"Items including jewellery and pedal cycles were taken.

"No arrests have been made and investigations into the incidents are ongoing."

Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious on Monday should call 101.
