Just days after the town won a Silver Gilt Award in the town category of the 2019 East Midlands in Bloom competition, Oakham in Bloom is already looking to the future.

Joint-founder and current vice-chairman Joyce Lucas told Oakham Nub News today (Fri) that new projects are 'in the pipeline' - for which sponsors are now being sought.

She said: "Oakham in Bloom were pleased with the East Midlands in Bloom results and have made a note on the judges comments and will work on those areas which need attention.

"However, the committee extend their thanks to all the volunteers who have done a wonderful job this year.

"There have been a huge number of compliments from near and far about the wild flower meadow on the bypass roundabouts.

"There are several future projects in the pipeline and we would love to hear from anyone who would like to sponsor them."

The East Midlands in Bloom results were announced on Wednesday (18 Sept) with Oakham scooping a Silver Gilt Award in the towns category for the second year running.

The town just missed out on a Gold Award by two points.
