Oakham level crossing closed for more than three hours this morning

Oakham level crossing was closed for almost three-and-a-half hours this morning (Mon).

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "Shortly after 6.15am a signaller reported that the barriers at Oakham Station level crossing had failed and were stuck in the down position.

"Network Rail engineers visited the site and carried out work to resolve the issue.

"Normal working was resumed shortly after 9.45am.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this incident and thank all those affected for their patience."
