A local walking guide by Stamford resident Will Hetherington has had a whirlwind first three weeks on sale in shops across the area.

The book hit the shelves at the end of October and the publishers haven't stopped restocking local retailers ever since.

Tim Walker, managing director of Walkers bookshops, said: "I was really excited to see Will's Walks when it arrived at our shops in Oakham and Stamford. Our customers have really loved it and we have sold hundreds.

"It is a must have for anyone looking for inspiration of where to walk in our beautiful county.

"Lots of customers have been buying more than one copy because they are keeping one for themselves and giving the others as Christmas presents for their friends and family. It is great to be able to have such a wonderful local book in our bookshops."

During lockdown the book is available through click and collect at Walkers via walkersbooks.co.uk

The guide covers 21 countryside walks in the Stamford and Rutland area with walks divided into three duration categories; one hour, between one and two hours, and two hours plus.

Will Hetherington said: "We live in a wonderful area for exploring the countryside, and I hope that readers can

use the book to find a few new places for a rural stroll at any time of year."

Mary Bremner, the editor of Active magazine which published the book, said: "We have been absolutely delighted with the way Will's Walks has sold. We knew it would be popular, but hadn't expected quite such an

enthusiastic response, so thank you.

"We have lots of local village and community stores selling the book and we are constantly resupplying

them to the likes of Collyweston, Barrowden and Ryhall shops.

"Lockdown has focused people's mind on supporting local shops and businesses and long may that continue."

For those who can't make it to a local shop the book is also available to order online at theactivemag.com for £7.95 (plus p&p).
