Road cycling and triathlon retailer Sigma Sports is opening a store in Oakham.

Due to open its doors in late spring, the 4,000 square feet of retail space will be located in South Street, selling a range of premium brands from across the road cycling, mountain bike, triathlon and run categories.

The retailer says the aim is to create a hub for the active outdoor community in the area.

Oakham was chosen for the company's second shop - its flagship store is in Hampton Wick, South West London - not only because of the space and warehouse facility, but for its location close to the renowned Melton International CiCLE Classic.

Sigma Sports' Managing Director Ian Whittingham says: "We are very excited to bring our retail offering to Oakham, a beautiful location with some stunning riding right on the doorstep.

"This expansion will allow us to engage with the cycling community around Leicestershire and beyond, bringing the same excellent levels of customer service that we've become renowned for in South West London."

The store opening will create a number of full and part-time job opportunities and there are a range of roles are being advertised on the Sigma Sports careers page.
