A scheme to build 128 starter homes in Oakham has been withdrawn by the developer.

At the end of October, Larkfleet Homes submitted an outline planning application to Rutland County Council for the affordable housing scheme on 3.9ha of land - allocated for employment - in Hawksmead, Lands End Way.

In a document supporting its application, Larkfleet Homes stated the site 'can readily accommodate' the number of homes proposed and the indicative layout showed a scheme made up of a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties - predominantly two and three-bed with 'a few' one-bed designs and two four-bed designs.

No garages were proposed, though the plan shows some car ports.

Most of the proposed homes would have been sold, according to the developer, for 'substantially lower' than £250,000.
