Rutland dog walkers have been warned to keep an eye out for potential poison and chemicals when they head out with their pets.

'Jasmine Louise' issued the warning yesterday for those exercising their dogs in Exton, especially around Fort Henry.

Jasmine continued: "Our cocker spaniel had a bad allergic reaction to something today around 1pm (swollen face, paws and legs) and we had to rush him to emergency vets.

"Not sure of the cause, could be pesticides, chemicals or something else entirely."

Commenters on Facebook said chemicals could be a possibility.

Either way, Louise added: "He was given a steroid injection to deal with the swelling / reaction and some antihistamines for the next few days."
