Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Stamford, has hit out at Rutland County Council for their handling of key decisions about Local Government Reorganisation.
In her statement, Kearns said: 'Rutland County Council said all Councillors couldn't have a formal and recorded vote on Local Government Reform and we Conservatives couldn't lay a motion, amendment or recommendation to express our shared position formally.
'The Council leader and her cabinet also chose not to develop and put forward their own preferred model.
'In contrast, both Lincolnshire County Council and South Kesteven District Council debated Local Government Reorganisation and the full council voted on a formal recommendation to its executive. Each council member's vote was recorded in the minutes.
'Both council also put forward their own proposal.
'There's something very wrong, and deeply undemocratic, at Rutland County Council.'
Rutland Council's Liberal Democrat cabinet unanimously voted to chose the North, City, South model.
If adopted, this would see Rutland join with neighbours in Melton, North Leicestershire and Charnwood, another council created to cover Leicester city and a third to cover south of Leicestershire.
