Appeal for witnesses after fatal two-vehicle collision near Barrowden

A woman has died following a fatal collision on the A47 near Barrowden village.

Police were called at around 3.45pm yesterday (Sun) to a report of a two-vehicle collision on the Peterborough Road.

It involved a red Mazda 2 and a grey Honda CRV.

The woman driver of the Mazda sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The four occupants of the Honda suffered minor injuries and received hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Pete Davies, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, is appealing for witnesses.

He said: "The collision took place at the A47 crossroads with Barrowden Lane and Luffenham Road and the Mazda was travelling along Barrowden Lane towards the A47 while the Honda was travelling along the A47 towards Peterborough.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who have may have witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand to get in touch.

"I'd also be keen to speak to any drivers who may have dashcam footage which may assist our investigation."
