Award for prize pies stocked at Rutland pub

A number of pies stocked at a local pub, and made by an East Midlands butcher, have been recognised at industry award ceremony.

Award Winning Butcher, Owen Taylor & Sons, have been serving the midlands with the finest quality produce since 1922. Most of the beef, pork and lamb is sourced directly from local farm assured farms then matured and carefully prepared at Leabrooks.

As well as providing some of the best meat around, the team produce prize-winning pies - a number of which are stocked by a local pub.

The Plough Inn is a cosy and quintessential pub located the heart of Greetham that serves up homemade pub classics cooked up with as many locally sourced ingredients as the team can get their hands on.

On top of getting their meat from the Alfreton butcher, the team also stock pies carried by Owen Taylor & Sons, some of which have recently been recognised at the Food Management Today Industry Awards.

Their popular chicken, leek and stilton pie won the Best Poultry category, while the steak and stilton pie was a finalist in the Best Bakery Producy category, and their Cote de Pork was a finalist in the Best Red Meat Product category.

The team said: "From Leabrooks to London, we're proud to announce we're winners at the Food Management Today Industry Awards this year, triumphing against premium household names!
