Breakdown recovery driver dies following A47 crash

A driver of a breakdown recovery vehicle has died after being hit by a car on the boarder of Leicestershire and Rutland.

Police were called to an incident on the A47 at just after 9am on Friday 20 January 2023.

The crash, which happened between Uppingham and Skeffington, involved a breakdown recovery driver and a black Audi A4. The recovery driver was outside of the vehicle at the time.

The driver of the breakdown vehicle died.

The driver of the Audi was not injured, while a child who was inside the car was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Serious Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision or the circumstances leading up to it.

Anyone who may have information, including any footage captured on their dashcams, have been asked to get in touch.

Witnesses can call Leicestershire Police on 101 quoting incident 131 of January 20.
