Girlguiding Rutland has appealed for new volunteers to join 1st Oakham Guides to help empower girls by providing them a safe space and the opportunity to thrive.

1st Oakham Guides is one of two thriving Girlguiding groups in Oakham, running on Thursday evenings for an hour and a half. This group provides an important space for girls aged 10 to 14 to express themselves, grow their confidence and have fun.

Oakham Guides needs volunteers to be able to continue running.

According to the group: "Are you searching for something rewarding to do outside of work? Girlguiding might be the perfect fit for you. Whether it's supporting on outdoor expeditions or lending a hand during a group meeting, any help you can give makes the difference.

"There's a warm welcome waiting for [new volunteers], support sessions from our excellent and experienced Rutland leaders, and the chance to buddy up with another volunteer to help you every step of the way."

Without the help of volunteers, girls will miss out on a world of new memories, and friendships, as well as a valuable space to try new things and hang out with likeminded girls.

For more information, contact Rutland Girlguiding Commissioner on [email protected] or visit their website to register to become a volunteer.
