Christmas and New Year opening hours for Oakham doctors, supermarkets and more

Oakham Nub News are here to help you get organised this Christmas with a list of supermarket and local service opening times over the Christmas and New Year period.

Rutland Community Fridge will be open on 24 December for last minute festive food to be collected by those in need or those passionate about preventing food waste. Both fridges will be open from 5pm.

The team will have one week off on Friday 29 December, but will be back on 5 January 2024.

Tesco in South Street will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It will also be opening on reduced hours on:

  • 24th December 2022 10am - 4pm
  • Christmas Day CLOSED
  • Boxing Day CLOSED
  • 27th December 2022 8am - 6pm

Regular opening hours are anticipated for the duration of the festive period.

Co-op will be closed on Christmas Day and will close early on Christmas Eve, with Sunday shopping hours in operation on Boxing Day.

One Stop in Barleythorpe will also have reduced opening hours, although it will be open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day from 10am.

Nationwide, Aldi stores will be opening for longer over the festive period, extending their opening hours excluding Christmas and Boxing Day:

  • 19th - 23rd December 7am - 10pm
  • 24th December 7am - 6pm
  • Christmas day CLOSED
  • Boxing Day CLOSED
  • 1st January CLOSED

Regular opening times will be observed otherwise.

Lidl will also be updating their opening hours over the festive period:

  • 23rd December 7am-10pm
  • 24th December 7am-6pm
  • Christmas Day CLOSED
  • Boxing Day CLOSED

The new Morrisons Daily on Oakham High Street will be open:

  • Christmas Eve 7am - 10pm
  • Christmas Day 9am - 3pm 
  • Boxing Day 7am - 10pm

The Braunston Road Co-Op will be open:

  • 24th December 7 am–8 pm
  • Holiday opening hours
  • Christmas Day CLOSED
  • 26th December 9 am–5 pm

Ovation in Oakham's Gaol Street has also shared updated hours, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day closures:

The Crown Tavern, Grainstore, The Admiral Hornblower and Lord Nelson will be open for drinks on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Meanwhile, Empingham Medical Centre will be closed on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th December 2022 and Monday 1st January 2023.

The team also shared a list of pharmacy opening times around Christmas, and have reminded users to order prescriptions to cover them while stores and surgeries are closed:

Oakham Medical Practice will also have altered opening hours over the festive period:

  • 24th - 26th December CLOSED
  • 27th - 29th December 8am - 6:30pm
  • 30th December - 1st January CLOSED
  • 2nd January 8am - 6:30pm
