Coronavirus crisis: 'Strife' leads to Covid-19 breaches and cannabis find in Rutland restaurant

Customers causing 'strife' in a Rutland have been fined for travelling from a Tier 3 into a Tier 2 area.

Police also carried out a search of them men and found cannabis.

Rutland Police said on social media yesterday: "If you are using our county #Rutland to come and have a meal and drink with your mates it's always advisable not to draw attention to yourselves.

"Seven men have travelled into tier 2 area from a tier 3 area and caused some strife. Misuse of drugs act search. #cannabis found."

They also said on twitter: "And with all the details I will complete #CovidTickets for all seven.

"Like we said we want to see you but not yet. Actually we don't want to see this group again.

"We will also be referring the Restaurant to trading standards."

Earlier this month, as reported by Nub News, Leicestershire Police said they issued 123 Covid-related fixed penalty notices during the four week November lockdown.

During this period police received 1,934 reports of Covid breaches.

Four £10,000 fines were given out during this period, with fines totalling £64,000 issued.
