Four organisations in Rutland and Melton have received a cash boost of more than £100,000 between them.

The £109,317 has been announced by Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden as part of the Culture Recovery Fund. This round supports 2,700 organisations across the UK, with over £390 million awarded.

To date, the Culture Fund has allocated nearly £1.2 billion in grants and financing to cultural organisations across the country. Almost £1 million has been allocated to Rutland and Melton.

The four businesses or organisations in Rutland and Melton to benefit are:

Rocks by Rail - the Living Ironstone Museum at Cottesmore, which received £9,057.

Symphotech Ltd, an events management company, which has received £60,000.

Pinders Circus Limited, which has received £18,860.

And the The DCC of St. Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray, who has received £21,400.

Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton and Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, said: "The support given to culture by the Government is unprecedented, and to see over £109,000 being awarded to cultural institutions in Rutland and Melton. This takes the total in grants and loans to our community to almost £1 million – an extraordinary investment.

"This will help Rocks by Rail, Symphotech, Pinders Circus at St Mary's, Melton survive and thrive as we recover from the pandemic.

"As PPS to the Culture Department, I have been pushing for money to come to our corner of the East Midlands.

"Culture is good for the soul. I can't wait to be able to visit these organisations in the near future!"

Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, said: "Our record breaking Culture Recovery Fund has already helped thousands of culture and heritage organisations across the country survive the biggest crisis they've ever faced.

"Now we're staying by their side as they prepare to welcome the public back through their doors - helping our cultural gems plan for reopening and thrive in the better times ahead."
