Rutland MP Alicia Kearns has singled out another group of volunteers as 'heroes'.

This week, the MP has chosen the Leicestershire & Rutland 4x4 Response, in her 'Rutland and Melton Unsung Heroes.'

Leicestershire & Rutland 4x4 Response is a registered charity of 4x4 drivers helping communities and authorities in Leicestershire and Rutland.

Mrs Kearns praised the group for taking medication and food to the vulnerable and those 'shielding' as well as transferring people to sheltered accommodation.

She said its members "have been working tirelessly to help our communities to get through the COVID-19 pandemic".

The response team is also noted for keeping the county moving during times of extreme snowy weather.

Oakham police commented: "A great team who help throughout the year and especially during winter months."
