Rutland MP Alicia Kearns has praised the Little Angels pre-school at Uppingham.

The MP said on Facebook: "This week's Rutland and Melton Heroes are Lucy Lewin and the whole team at Little Angels Uppingham who were nominated by quite a few members of the community for putting together arts and crafts packs for local children as well as delivering free food parcels to vulnerable families using local butchers and food producers.

"Thank you to you all!

In a letter sent to the schools, Mrs Kearns commented: "You epitomise the communal spirit that makes me so proud to be Rutland and Melton's Member of Parliament."

Since the lockdown, the MP has been choosing several 'heroes' every week. She promises to 'throw a big party' with all the heroes when it possible.

Lucy Lewin, owner/ managing director, of the ten-year-old pre-school replied: "Oh my gosh!! When I spoke with Alicia Kearns MP about my team I never dreamed she would actually consider us!

"I was telling her how my team will always be hero's to me!! It would seem the community agree too! Thank you so much to everyone."
