Rutland has recorded just one cases of Covid-19 today and again no deaths.

This compares with two last Monday and one each on the previous two Mondays.

The grand total number of cases since the pandemic is 1667- about one in 25 of Rutland's population.

The 7-day case rate for Rutland has slumped from 27.6 cases per 100,000 on Friday to 20 today.

This is the same as last Monday and compares with the England average of 23.2.

This is well down on the peak earlier this year, which reached into the 400s for cases per 100,000 of population.

The number of deaths remains at 62, amounts to about one fatality in 700 residents, which compares to the England average of one-in-500. The last death was recorded last Wednesday, the only death with Covid-19 during April.

Meanwhile in Lincolnshire, South Kesteven has gone almost 4 weeks without a fatality as the UK recorded just one death today.

However, the district recorded 6 cases today which compares with 2 last Monday and 8 the previous Monday.

This gives South Kesteven a 7-day infection rate of 20.4 cases per 100,000, which is just below the England average of 23.2.

This is an increase on the 13.3 cases per 100,000 recorded on Friday, but down on the 28.8 recorded last Sunday.

The latest figures remain among the lowest since last year and around a twentieth of figures earlier in the year when the weekly rate exceeded 400 cases per 100,000.

Overall, South Kesteven has seen 7557 recorded cases since the start of the pandemic- which is about one for every 20 residents.

The number of deaths has remained at 266 for almost 4 weeks. This means that around one-in-600 residents have died within 28 days of a positive test since the pandemic started, which compares with an England average of one-in-500.

Overall, there have been 40 coronavirus cases in Greater Lincolnshire but no COVID-related deaths reported on Monday  – only one was reported nationally.

On Monday, the government's COVID-19 dashboard recorded 24 new cases in Lincolnshire, 11 in North Lincolnshire and five in North East Lincolnshire.

According to the figures no deaths were registered on Monday. These figures include deaths both in and out of hospitals, as well as residents in hospitals outside the county.

On Monday, national cases increased by 1,649 to 4,421,850, while deaths rose by one to 127,539.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday told reporters there was a "good chance" the one-metre social distancing rule could be scrapped from next month.

He explained it would depend on the data and that it could not be stated "categorically" but said: "That's what it feels like to me right now."

The official date for when all legal limits on social contact are set to be removed is June 21 – though some social distancing or mask wearing requirements are expected to last beyond that day.

Elsewhere today, a group of MPs has called on the government to expand travel rules beyond mid-May, however, Mr Johnson said there could be "some opening up of foreign travel" on May 17.
