Dr Sarah Furness, the Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland, is looking forward to welcoming residents to the special summer celebration in Cutts Close, Oakham, this Sunday (8 Sept).

The much-anticipated Party in the Park will start at noon and run until 4.30pm.

Food and drink will be available to purchase from the beer tent and barbeque. There will also be outdoor amusements, including the Military Bikers, face painting, a tug of war, band and more.

Everyone is welcome to the event and the Lord-Lieutenant is keen to encourage as many people as possible to attend, including serving military personnel and their families, veterans and local residents.

Dr Furness said: "I am very much looking forward to welcoming everyone to Sunday's Party in the Park.

"Preparations are almost complete and it promises to be a wonderful event for both our local military and civilian communities.

"Rutland is rightly proud of its bonds with the armed forces community.

"We have always been tremendously welcoming and supportive of all branches of the armed dorces and I know many of you will want to join in with this special celebration, to renew these ties and say thank you to all those who have served and continue to do so."

In addition to Party in the Park, upcoming military commemorations in Rutland include the 75th anniversary of VE Day and 75th anniversary of VJ Day.
