The owner of Wool Zone in Oakham has set about 'brightening up the area' with a bouquet of hand crocheted flowers.

Julie, and a number of loyal customers at her Church Street shop, have been working hard to add a splash of colour to the walkway outside Wool Zone.

Julie said: "I decided that it would be nice to brighten up the area, so I asked some customers to join me, and together we have decorated the signpost at the front of the shop.

"It was a fun project and has added a little something to the street outside the shop."

Neighbouring pub, The Wheatsheaf, located on Northgate, posted on social media: "Amazingly talented people have knitted and crocheted flowers and turned a boring and ugly post in to something beautiful and made us smile. We think we have some competition with the flowers!"

Formally located on Northgate, Wool Zone can now be found on Oakham's Church Street.

Run by knitting pro Julie, the shop sells yarn, knitting needles, pattern books, buttons and crafting equipment, as well as handmade garments by Julie herself and much more.

You can find the shop at 18 Church Street, from 10am until 4pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Julie looks forward to welcoming customers new and old to visit the vibrant attraction and browse the wide range of stock in store.
