The Oakham North East byelection will be held on Thursday 21st November, with some of the deadlines for voter registration closing this week.

The by election follows the tragic death of Cllr Hannah Edwards in September.

The deadline for individuals to register to vote in this election is midnight on Tuesday 5th November. This can be done online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or if you are unable to register online, email [email protected] .

For registered voters looking to vote by postal vote or postal proxy, applications to their local council must be done before 5pm on Wednesday 6th November 2024.

Candidates standing in this election are:

  • Ben Callaghan – Reform UK
  • Linda Louise Chatfield – Liberal Democrats
  • Christopher StJohn Eric Clark – The Conservative Party Candidate
  • Katie Ross – Labour Party

This year, two of the candidates are hoping to be elected to join a family member already on the council, with Katie Ross's father Cllr Ramsey Ross and Linda Chatfield's husband Cllr Mark Chatfield already on the council.

All four of the standing candidates have cited the regeneration of the town centre as a key issue for them.
