Don't forget McDonald's is holding a public drop-in exhibition tomorrow (Weds) when the fast food chain will be showcasing its plans for a restaurant in Oakham.

Oakham Nub News was contacted by a number of residents last Monday who reported receiving a letter from the company inviting them to the event.

Some were concerned that the letter may have been a hoax so we contacted McDonald's to get an official statement.

A spokesman told Oakham Nub News on Monday: "We look forward discussing our plans for a potential new restaurant with the Oakham community.

"This public consultation will allow residents to get a feel for what the restaurant might look like and hear about benefits, including at least 65 full or part time jobs the restaurant would create."

The letter to residents stated that McDonald's has been considering opening a restaurant in Oakham 'for the last few years' but is inviting residents' feedback 'before any final decisions are made'.

The company has identified a site in Lands End Way for the new restaurant.

The exhibition event is being held at Victoria Hall tomorrow, May 22, between 2pm and 8pm.

Rutland is currently the only county in the country not to have a McDonald's fast food restaurant.
