A local family have been supporting the team at Rutland Farm Park while farmer Amy recovers from surgery.
Life on a rural farm is hard as winter closes in, but one local attraction has had a harder few weeks than usual, following the absence of a key member of the team.
Last month, farmer Amy broke her ankle and needed surgery to fix the damage. As such, the team at the farm, headed up by Amy's parents and the owners of the popular family attraction, Clive and Julie, have had to struggle through without her.
As is so often the case in Rutland though, you can trust members of the local community to step in and help out in a crisis.
In Amy's absence, a young family have joined the cause - alongside other regulars volunteers at the farm - to pick up the slack and keep the magic alive at Rutland Park Farm...
Rutland Farm Park brags a range of attractions and features, including a café, play park, animal petting and feeding sessions. It also serves a selection of home and handmade and allergy-friendly goodies available at Daphne's tea room, hosts holiday activities and has a collection of rare breed animals.
Now, it has welcomed a touch of magic too!
A Rutland-based volunteer and mother, Ellie, alongside her two young children have been working hard at the farm and family attraction, and have built a fairy den in the woods.
The team said: "Have you been to the woods lately?
"We have recently had some new arrivals - some beautiful little fairies. If you’re quiet, you might just see them!"
The team added: "Thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Ellie and her children for being creative and helping on the farm with Amy’s absence, and to our other wonderful volunteers."
The fairy corner in the woods isn't the only magical addition heading to the farm this spooky season though - the farm is also hosting a range of Halloween and half-term events, as well as festive fun days on the run up to Christmas.
Things will kick off with half-term fun and games on the farm until 29 October, when you can enjoy getting up close with the animals, learning about the local attraction with the team and join in with a host of activities taking place across the farm.
The team will also be hosting a Halloween party on Thursday 26 October, which promises to be a spooktacular event!
To round off the Halloween-themed events, there will be a creepy crawly event on Sunday 29 October to get you in the spooky spirit.
Heading into Christmas, the team will also be holding a huge range of Christmas events suitable for adults and children.
As well as advent and wreath making workshops, they are introducing their brand new Afternoon Tea with Santa event this year.
Check out their schedule below for the full list of events taking place:
Parking at the farm is free, and you can purchase extras like animal feed on the day – just be sure not to feed the horses.
Visitors to the attraction can turn up on the day or book tickets online, where you can also find the reduced winter opening times.
