An open day and drop-in session for Rutland residents to find out more about the new community banking hub is set to take place on Thursday, 25 January 2024.

With a loss of local banks over the last two years - including Lloyds, Barclays and soon HSBC - local people and businesses are keen to welcome the scheduled new banking hub, set to open in Oakham this year.

The Cash Access UK hub is set to open in the first half of the year, and will allow users of all major banks to use the counter service on offer.

The Banking Hub will be located at 43 High Street, the former home of Lloyds bank, and will provide a counter service operated by the Post Office.

The hub will allow customers of all major banks and building societies to carry out regular cash transactions from Monday to Friday.

This is a particularly anticipated service in the county town, where Barclays and Lloyds have closed in the last two years, and HSBC is due to close once the Banking Hub is up and running.

You can bank with any major bank every day, but in addition, Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week when you need to talk to a friendly face.

The schedule will be as follows:

Monday - Barclays

Tuesday - NatWest

Wednesday - Santander

Thursday - Lloyds

Friday - HSBC

To find out more about banking hubs and the services that will be available once the hub opens, you can visit the Cash Access UK website or head to the upcoming open day on 25 January.

This will take place at Oakham Castle's Great Hall from 11am until 1pm, and all are welcome.
