Former Rutland pub set to become four new homes
A residential development plot has come to the market in Braunston, Rutland.
The former public house in Braunston, The Old Plough, could be transformed into four homes as the land hits the market.
For sale with Moores, the plot has been causing controversy for over a year as battles over the old building waged on. It was initially proposed that the pub would be turned into a four-bed home, but the land has come back to the market with planning permission for four new homes on the plot of the old pub and car park.
The plans for four homes include private gardens and parking.
The original dwelling is to be converted into one four bedroom home and one three bedroom home, with two further detached three bedroom dwellings in the grounds.
Planning information can be found on the Rutland County Council website, reference number 2021/1421/FUL.
The property is freehold and will be sold with the benefit of vacant possession. The proposed dwellings will be assessed for Council Tax in due course.
Braunston is a popular Rutland village, with a renowned public house and Church.
Braunston is conveniently located nearby the market towns of Oakham and Uppingham which provide a wide range of amenities and a choice of excellent state and private schooling for children of all ages.
The village itself has one other pub, The Blue Ball. The Old Plough initially closed in 2018, with the sale price dropping from £750,000 t0 £595,000.
It did not sell at auction the following year, and was forced to completely stop trading during the pandemic. It has not been running as a pub since, although a pop-up pizza stall and bar has run from the venue's car park.
