Dying Matters Rutland is holding a free event on Wednesday 6 May at Rutland Showground to highlight simple ways and practical advice for end-of-life planning.

Dying Matters Rutland (DMR) recognise that this is a daunting and difficult task to be faced with and are hoping to break down walls and normalise clear and constructive conversations about dying to get yourself and loved ones in the best possible place for when the time comes.

'Dead Easy: A Guide to the Inevitable' is designed to help people feel better informed about end-of-life planning by bringing together trusted local voices to share practical, reassuring information in a supportive setting, with time after for questions.

Chair of Dying Matters Rutland, Dr Hilary Fox (pictured right) hopes people from across the county will join them for this free event to start important discussions which are so often overlooked.

Dr Fox said: 'Planning ahead can bring real peace of mind and it can make a difficult time so much easier for family and friends. If you are curious, unsure where to start, or just want clear and reassuring information, I would really encourage you to come along to Dead Easy.'

The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Sarah Furness (pictured left) is a patron of Dying Matters and a firm believer in the importance of taking practical steps before the inevitable.

She said: 'Preparing for the inevitable is one of the kindest things you can do for the people you love.

'Dead Easy offers straightforward, trustworthy guidance to help you think it through and make your wishes known, with local support on hand and time for questions.

'None of us know when we will die – only that we will. Thinking things through gives peace of mind and means we can shut the plans away until they are needed.'

Dead Easy: A Guide to the Inevitable is a free-to-attend event taking place at Rutland Showground on Wednesday 6 March between 2pm and 4pm.

Transport to and from the event can be arranged. Register your interest online and find out more about this event by clicking here.
