The funeral of talented young rugby player Alex Waycot is being in Stamford tomorrow (Tues).

The service, a celebration of the 21-year-old's life, will take place at St George's Church at 2pm.

The rugby community in Oakham and Stamford were united in their grief after Alex's sudden death on 26 August.

Teammates described former Stamford College student Alex, who was training to be a barber, as a very talented player and 'an honour to play with'.

He played for Oakham RFC from junior level, as a big part of the team which won four county cups in a row, before playing senior games for Stamford College.

He went on to play most recently for Stamford College Old Boys RFC.
