Rutland Garden Centre will be hosting an Autumn Fair to raise money for Voluntary Action Rutland (VAR) in September.

Since being taken over in May 2019 by husband and wife business partners Katey Lester and Robin Batten, Rutland garden Centre has welcomed a range of exciting changes, additions to the Garden Village shopping courtyard and launched a series of new events.

One of these new events is the upcoming Autumn Fair, scheduled to take place in early September in aid of VAR.

Voluntary Action Rutland, based at the Oakham Enterprise Park, has a vision to improve the quality of life for the people of Rutland via the support of an effective, active and engaging voluntary and community sector.

The team operate an extensive transport scheme for frail, elderly, disabled and vulnerable people to enable them to access medical appointments and social activities.

They have minibuses adapted for wheelchair use on site and a VAR car for hire - these are primarily operated by volunteer drivers but can be available for self-drive.

The scheme is run by volunteers and with funds raised by the local community.

As such, events such as the upcoming Autumn Fair are essential for the ongoing success of the charity.

The team at Rutland Garden Centre will be hosting their Autumn Fair to raise money for VAR and to champion local sellers. As such, stalls will be free, but the organisers ask that every seller donates one item for their raffle, which will be the main source of fundraising for VAR at the event.
