Thieves have stolen thousands of pounds from Greetham Valley hotel and golf club.

A total of £19,000 was removed from an account at the Wood Lane venue following the theft of a card reader on Friday (13 Dec).

A Leicestershire Police spokesman told Oakham Nub News: "Officers are investigating the theft of a card reader from a hotel in Greetham.

"It was reported the card reader was stolen sometime between 3.15am and 3.45am, along with two bottles of alcohol and money from the hotel.

"Enquiries into the incident - and how the money was taken - are ongoing.

"No arrests have been made at this time."

Initial police enquiries suggest four men, described as South Asian and smartly-dressed in ski jackets, were involved in the incident.

Just two months ago thieves stole 14 golf buggy batteries, worth an estimated £20,000, from the golf club after breaking into the driving range.
