7th Oct 2020 | Local News

The Discover Rutland Autumn Winter 2020 guide launches this week, packed full of editorial features exploring the county.

The publication is a popular seasonal read that is held onto and viewed time and again by locals and readers from further afield who have an affinity for the area or may be planning a future visit.

Discover Rutland delivers the guide, in association with local PR company Nimble Media. Discover Rutland's activity is managed by volunteers from local businesses.

Such businesses understand firsthand that the covid pandemic has financially impacted the tourism industry heavily. and the sector needs supporting now more than ever.

Some 13,500 copies of the guide have been printed and will be distributed through local businesses across Rutland and its borders and directly to local residents.

Distribution also covers national information points, and anyone can order a copy online free of charge.

In addition, a fully responsive and interactive digital version of the guide is circulated to Discover Rutland's contacts, giving people a chance to be reminded of the charm of Rutland at a time when they may not be able to visit.

Jason Allen, Chair of Discover Rutland and owner of The Fox in North Luffenham commented: "Businesses have had to adopt new ways of working over the last few months, including utilising more outdoor spaces, and many are now increasingly nervous about what challenges autumn and winter will bring.

"We want to reassure customers that you can still visit many local businesses safely and that they need your support over the coming months."

The Discover Rutland guide and website encourages people to 'know before you go' and check businesses opening information before visiting.

Discover Rutland says special thanks go to Hanson UK, a leading supplier of building materials and cement products whose sites include the cement works at Ketton, who have kindly sponsored the Autumn Winter guide.

Jason added: "Discover Rutland is very grateful to have received sponsorship from Hanson UK, which has ensured local businesses will benefit from a guide with relevant seasonal content during these challenging times".

Discover Rutland also have plans for digital marketing campaigns of various stages to support the industry, the first being a 'reactive and reassuring' marketing message designed to encourage residents to visit local eateries, shops and attractions, whilst following the safety protocols.

A larger national marketing campaign is being planned for a more appropriate time, to raise awareness and encourage longer breaks.
