A local man and Baker at Rutland's Hambleton Bakery will be running 30 half marathons in 30 days to raise money for Magpas Air Ambulance on what would have been his son's 12th birthday.

Baker and local man, Ben Ray, was inspired to raise money for the charity following the passing of his eldest son, Harry.

On the 22 December 2019, Harry passed away suddenly. Since then, Ben has undertaken a range of challenges to raise money for the charity that allowed the family to say their goodbyes.

Magpas Air Ambulance brings the very best pre-hospital emergency care, in the air or on land, including treatments usually only available in a hospital. The organisation serve the communities of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and across the East of England, and are dispatched by both the East of England and the East Midlands Ambulance Service Trusts—caring for a population of over 10 million.

Ben explained: "For the past 2 years I have completed a challenge to celebrate Harry's birthday. I have run around Rutland Water 28km, and run from RAF Wymon in Huntingdon back to Stamford, 41 miles. This year for Harry's 12th birthday, I will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most half marathons run in 30 days all for Magpas Air Ambulance.

"Without Magpas Air Ambulance that day, myself Jenson, Ezra and all Harry's family would not have got to say their final goodbyes. Magpas are absolute amazing and have been supporting us ever since."

As such, Ben is raise money through completing this record-breaking challenge and is raising money on JustGiving.

Ben has already raised an impressive £900. Donate here.

Ben added: "Harry was an amazing big brother to Jenson and Ezra. Harry had an infectious smile which would light up an entire room, a good sense of humour and was one of the kindest boys with a massive heart. We all miss him so much there isn't a day that goes by we don't mention or talk about Harry.

"Thanks again for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and all the support over the past few years."

Baker Ben began his 30 day charity mammoth run on 1 April after completing the London Marathon on Sunday 23 April 2023, and he is aiming to run a half marathon every day for the next 30 days - a Guinness Book of Record Challenge.
