Have your say on Rutland's Charging for Care and Support Policy.

Rutland County Council is consulting on proposed changes to the Council's Charging for Care and Support Policy. The consultation is currently open and will close at 4pm on 24th January 2024.

The Charging for Care and Support Policy explains how the Council works out what people should pay towards the cost of their council-funded care and support, based on their ability to pay.

There are several areas identified for review, including:

  • Applying for a financial assessment
  • Applying for 'Light Touch' assessment and self-assessments
  • Consider the Income we take into account
  • Clarify Disability Related Expenditure
  • Consider waiving charges for people in severe financial hardship or people with exceptional circumstances

Please note that proposed changes will not fundamentally change the policy or the amount people are charged. It will also not affect charges for people who live in care homes.

Rutland County Council's Portfolio Holder for Adult Care and Health, Cllr Diane Ellison, said: "Proposed changes to the policy aim to improve the speed of applications, provide a consistent and fair approach from the service and to reduce costs and environmental impact.

"We are encouraging all residents, carers, care providers, those that use the service and their representatives to please get involved with the consultation and have their say on these proposed changes."

To take part in the consultation please complete the online form.
