Healthwatch Rutland has completed its latest round of drop-in sessions, including events held each day within Rutland for Dementia Action Week 2024.

The popular series of drop-in events for May have been held at Rutland County Library and Uppingham Library where members of the public can turn up and have their questions about public health services answered.

Healthwatch Rutland also supported an event held at The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham which was led by The Rotary Club of Rutland, in partnership with Uppingham Surgery and supported by local Conservative MP Alicia Kearns and Dr Sarah Furness, Lord Lieutenant of Rutland.

Hollie Hughes, community engagement officer for the group, said: "The garden terrace was full of local support services for people to chat with and receive information, and we were able to listen to people's feedback in relation to their experiences with health and social care, as well as signposting them to a variety of services for support.

"After giving an overview of Healthwatch Rutland's role, we chatted individually and in small groups about local health and social care experiences, and were able to answer lots of questions about health-related services across Rutland.

Dates for Healthwatch Rutland in June are:

  • Ketton Library outreach event, Wednesday 12 June, 10am-12pm, Ketton Library, High Street, PE9 3TE
  • Rutland Carers Event, Wednesday 12 June, 12pm-4pm at Rutland County Council, Council Chambers, Oakham, LE15 6HP
  • Ryhall Library outreach event, Thursday 20 June, 10am-12pm, at Ryhall Library, Coppice Road, Ryhall, PE9 4HY

Healthwatch Rutland is the public's NHS health and social care champion. The organisation wants to hear the experiences of anyone who uses GPs and hospitals, dentists, pharmacies, care homes or other NHS support services in the county.

As an independent statutory body, Healthwatch Rutland has the power to make sure NHS leaders and other decision-makers listen to feedback, and can then improve standards of care.
