The local policing team have reported that there has been an increase in anti-social behaviour and thefts in and around Rutland's county town.

PC Robinson, 1101, said: "Recently there has been an increase of anti-sociable behaviour and thefts in and around Oakham Town and Barleythorpe. We have been addressing our local hotspot areas with high visibility patrols and engaging with those causing anti-sociable behaviour, working closely with partner agencies to combat those issues. From this a car was stopped and was issued with a section 59 warning due to the manner of their driving.

A section 59 is issued when a car is being driven in a manner which is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.

On top of this, PC Robinson also spent time talking to victims of crime across the area.

PC Robinson added: "I have also visited several victims that have reported crimes, which I have done some follow ups and offer those affected with appropriate support. These have been local stores reporting thefts, plus several victims reporting a burglary, criminal damage and a dog attack. These are just some of the investigations I am currently working on alongside supporting colleagues and responding to a number of 999 calls across Rutland and Melton area."

Rutland residents can use information from Neighbourhood link surveys and interaction at beat surgeries to identify the local hotspot areas.
