An independent shop located on Oakham's South Street has welcomed a host of new handmade and unique items to their varied and colourful stock.

Peeky's Quirky Gifts has welcomed a range of new goods, from gifts and garden furniture to one-off items and handmade feature pieces.

The affordable, family-run gift shop has proven popular since it arrived in Oakham in late January, and owners Stephen and Kelly Brant are keen to welcome even more customers through the door.

The duo, who are not just partners in business but are also married, run the business together and can be found in store helping customers or with an array of tools in hand creating and upcycling the next showstopping item to add to the shop floor.

They have been so busy creating new items, that earlier this year they opened the second floor of the premise to customers, who can now browse two floors of unique goodies for the home.

Stephen has a long history in the welding and fabrication trade, which he said "has been useful for a majority of our builds". Kelly is a qualified florist and an "extremely busy mummy."

Stephen added: "She has an artistic eye which shows on some of our creations."

Not only does Kelly's creativity ensure that Peeky's supply a range of one-of-a-kind items to local shoppers, but allow her to salvage furniture that would otherwise go to landfill, helping reduce local waste and keep the business sustainable.

Stock ranges from small items, such as bottle stops and trinkets, to larger side boards, cabinets and dining sets.
