People who travel by bus in Rutland are being invited to attend an open meeting of the county's next Bus Users Group next month (Oct).

The Bus Users Group has been set up by Rutland County Council, local residents and bus operators as a forum to discuss local services.

The Group's next meeting is due to take place in the Council Chambers at Rutland County Council on Tuesday, 8 October from 10.15am to 11.45am.

Coun Lucy Stephenson, Cabinet Member for Transport at Rutland County Council, said: "We know public transport is something that many people feel very strongly about.

"It's also an area where the council is committed to working with people to make sure services are fit for purpose and meet local travel needs.

"The Bus Users Group has been created as a way to exchange information and ideas and, ultimately, deliver the best possible transport services within our budget constraints."

The council is inviting public transport-related questions to be discussed at the Bus Users meeting.

These must be submitted in advance by emailing [email protected], posting them to Transport Team, Rutland County Council, Catmose, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6HP, or hand-delivering them to Rutland County Council's main reception or to a member of staff at any one of Rutland's local libraries.

Include your name and email address or telephone number with any written questions if you are unable to attend the group and would like to receive a separate response.

You can also contact the council's Transport Team by calling 01572 720 923.

"We know some people will not be able to attend these meetings in person due to other commitments but we are still keen to hear from them and happy to respond to their questions outside of the Users Group, by phone or email," added CounStephenson.

The closing date for submitting questions for the October Bus Users Group meeting is Friday, 27 September.
