Rutland Police have put out an appeal for residents to keep a look out for stolen items or to come forward if they think that they may have seen suspicious activity at Rutland Showground earlier this month.

At some point over the weekend of 9 - 12 February, a break-in took place at the agricultural hub and sports club - home to Rutland Agricultural Society and Oakham Rugby Football Club.

A number of items were stolen or damaged.

PC Robinson said: "Unfortunately we have had a break in to a unit at the Rutland Showground. It has occurred anytime after midday on Friday 9 February until Monday 12 February at 9am when the team turned up and discovered the break. The suspects have broken in via gate two on Burley Park Way."

Items that have been taken or damaged include:

  • A Red Countax A25-50HE with a black deck ride on mower (white marker pen with a diagram drawn on)
  • Grass collection box attachment for the Countax A25-50HE
  • Hayter Green with gold insignia Rotary Mower
  • Black metal frame with red fuel tank generator
  • Green grass cutter attachment for the Avant mower which was damaged
  • Damage to the Green Avant mower

PC Robinson concluded: "I hope to make you all aware and to ask that, if you have seen any suspicious activity between the specified time frame or any vehicles in the area of gate 2, please call 101 quoting crime number 24000087746. Many thanks."
