The Arts Society of Oakham is part of a national charitable organisation that promotes arts education across the UK, and they are keen to welcome you to the club.

The friendly group meets once a month in Oakham's Victoria Hall where they enjoy regular talks and presentations about a range of artists, styles and mediums, from traditional techniques to tattoo art.

The Arts Society, formerly the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies, is an arts-based charity founded in 1968 by Patricia Fay. NADFAS became The Arts Society in May 2017, but maintains the same principles of promoting and maintaining accessibility in art to all who wish to enjoy it.

The Arts Society Oakham is one of hundreds of local societies, and is well placed to support the aims of the Arts Society. Historic architecture, art galleries, schools, and museums in the town and surrounding area provide both stimulus and opportunity for further study.

Through the central office, societies such as the Oakham branch book visiting professional lecturers to come to their towns, thereby offering an appreciation of the arts without having to travel to art galleries and museums, making the group an affordable and accessible alternative.

These lectures are not just about Fine Art, but focus on everything from Architecture, Ceramics, Photography, Music, Textiles, Wallpaper, even Graffiti and Tattooing, ensuring that there is something for everyone within the society.

A spokesperson for the group said: "Because we offer such a range of topics and talks, our society is accessible and of interest to all."

The group meet at Victoria Hall on the fourth Thursday of every month at Oakham's Victoria Hall at 11am.

The team concluded: "We look forward to welcoming new members to our monthly group."
