Volunteer Week is an annual event, this year falling between 2nd and 8th June, and is an opportunity for local community groups to thank the vital work of their volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skill.

As part of Volunteers' Week, Citizens Advice Rutland will be travelling across the county as part of the Volunteer Roadshow as part of their work supporting local voluntary groups.

During the week, Citizens Advice Rutland's Community Development Officer Susan Evans will be visiting Rutland's four county libraries to promote the role of volunteers in the community, as well as spreading information about local volunteer roles and their volunteer advertising website.

Evans said: "National events like Volunteers' Week provide a great platform to celebrate the people already involved, highlight local volunteer opportunities and hopefully inspire more to join in.

"Volunteers carry out an amazing amount and range of activity to support their communities in Rutland, but we know more are needed for local groups to continue.

"Our role and aim with the Volunteer Roadshow, is to champion volunteers as well as the groups that need them and to help anyone who may be interested in getting involved find the right opportunity for them."

The Volunteer Roadshow will be visiting the four libraries in Rutland on the following dates:

  • Ketton Library – Wednesday 4th June, 10am – 12pm
  • Uppingham Library – Wednesday 4th June, 1.30pm - 3.30pm
  • Oakham Library – Thursday 5th June, 10am – 12pm
  • Ryhall Library – Thursday 5th June, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Both volunteers and voluntary/community groups in Rutland can attend these times to find out about volunteer roles for individuals or support for groups – everyone is welcome to drop in for a chat and to find out more information.
