Lipstick, Powder and Paint: members invited to bring free guest to upcoming flower club meeting
Members have been invited to bring a free guest to the upcoming meeting of Rutland Flower Club.
With membership to the group dwindling, organisers have invited guests to attend the April monthly meeting for free, accompanied by a current member.
Alternatively, the group is welcoming new members for only £8, which includes a talk from a different specialist each month.
This month's talk is titled 'Lipstick, Powder and Paint' and will welcome guest speaker Lorena Dyer.
The club was first formed in May 1960, and is still attracting those with a flare for flowers, horticulture hobbyists and professional florists.
Rutland is a hive of activity for gardeners and flower lovers, being the home of the community allotment, Growers Row, and multiple 'in Bloom' volunteer groups which keep the local area pretty and compete for national awards, as well as being a place of natural beauty and bragging miles of outdoor space and nature reserves.
Rutland Flower Club is another space where keen and amateur gardeners are invited to learn more and socialise.
The club meets for ten months of the year, with a short break in January and February, the club resuming every March and running until December.
The monthly meetings take place on the first Tuesday of every month at Oakham Methodist Church, Northgate, Oakham, LE15 6QS from 6.45pm to 7.30pm.
Visitors pay £8, unless accompanied by a member, in which case this month they will attend for free.
