A local hairdresser is getting ready to close up shop after 30 years working across Rutland.

Sarahjayne Peachey, who owns Rutland Hairworks in Empingham village, is getting ready to retire in December.

Ms Peachey's mother was also a hairdresser, and inspired her daughter to follow the same path, leading to a successful 30 year career across the local area.

She has run Hairworks for 19 years, and has decided to call time on her career and retire while she can still "enjoy good health".

The salon will close its doors on Saturday 23 December, and the premises is to remain a hairdressers.

At present, no one has come forward to take on the lease, but Sarahjayne confirmed that the landlord wishes for the facility to remain in situ for the use of the rural village, located to the north east of Rutland Water.

She concluded: "I am sad to retire, but it is my time while I can still enjoy good health and the local area."

Not to disappoint her local customers, Sarahjayne won't be closing until 23 December, meaning that there is still time to schedule that much-needed Christmas hair cut ahead of Christmas Day - and with only five weeks to go until the big day, time is ticking.
