Dr Sarah Furness, the Lord-Lieutenant for Rutland, is to host a special summer celebration for Rutland's residents.

Party in the Park will take place at Cutts Close in Oakham on Sunday 8th September from noon until 4.30pm.

Amusements at the outdoor event will include the military bikers.

Drinks and food will be available to purchase from the beer tent and barbeque.

Everyone is welcome to the open event and the Lord-Lieutenant is keen to encourage as many people as possible to attend, including the military and their families, veterans and civilian residents.

Dr Sarah Furness, the Lord-Lieutenant for Rutland, says: "I am delighted to be hosting Party in the Park.

''It promises to be a wonderful event that unites the local military and civilian communities.

"It's not always easy for armed personnel and their families to settle in a new area, but the Rutland community is tremendously welcoming.

''This is a fantastic opportunity the entire county to come together, renew ties and strengthen bonds.

"We have food and drink available to purchase and free entertainment lined-up.

''Cutts Close will provide a beautiful backdrop for the festivities.

''The location is also very accessible so I hope as many people as possible are able to come along and enjoy the event."

In addition to Party in the Park, upcoming military commemorations in Rutland include the 75th anniversary of VE Day and 75th anniversary of VJ Day.
