Mango & The Moon, an independent homeware and lifestyle store, will be hosting their grand opening on Mill Street tomorrow, Saturday 11 February at 10am.

Mango & The Moon is a local homeware shop run by Ruthie, who was inspired to set up her very own business over 25 years ago...

While working in fashion, Ruthie was travelling in India, where she experienced a range of vibrant fabrics and cultures that planted a seed. Although this seed was only small, it inspired "a lifelong love for artisan crafts and fabrics as well as an enduring passion for India, its culture and its people."

"Most of all I was captivated by the beauty and sheer delight inspired by India's incredible woven textiles," Ruthie explained.

She added: "After many rotations of the moon, a happy marriage and a busy family later, those gleaming colours, shimmering shades and exquisite fabrics were still whispering to me, just asking to be brought to life."

Following a return trip to India, and with the support of her family and friends, Ruthie took the jump and in September 2021, began Mango & The Moon.

Now, Ruthie is brightening up Oakham's high street in her very own Mill Street store.

The shop stocks and sells cushions and home furnishings in a "joyous kaleidoscope of colour, pattern and texture, bringing a splash of sunshine into your home."

On top of stocking their own creations, Mango & The Moon will host The Happy Little Pop Up Shop, a conglomeration of local businesses including: My Noodle Bug, Little Print Gifts, Zany Pig, Olive & Wallis, Hausmade, Kate Please and Bombay.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the shop will be reopening this Saturday at the former home of Honeykins Vintage, so take your better half down to explore the gifts and goodies in a "kaleidoscope of colour".
