McColl's on Oakham High Street will shut for three days later this month as it is transformed into a Morrisons Daily.

McColl's convenience stores were traditionally Britain's biggest local newspaper retailer outside of the supermarket chains, but having battled bankruptcy last year, have been taken over by Morrisons.

Many of the branches have already been rebranded, and the Oakham store is next on the list.

The shop will close on 26 October when it will cease trading as McColl's, and will reopen on 29 October as Morrisons Daily.

Located at 30 - 32 High Street, the new Morrisons Daily will stock daily essentials, such as milk and bread, as well as crisps, snacks, drinks and other food items. On top of this, they will sell stationary, cards, magazines and newspapers too.

The store is expected to continue to host to the local Post Office.
