Rutland finally has its first 'Golden Arches'.

Workmen for McDonald's erected the iconic symbol on the edge of Oakham yesterday.

Burley Appliances Ltd of Oakham has posted the above photo on social media.

The company said on twitter: "When we started manufacturing our electric fires in #Oakham 35 years ago #LandsEndWay was a dead-end road. Now we have a @bp_plc petrol station with @marksandspencer also @AldiUK

& @LidlGB. Opening soon a 24hr @McDonalds!"

As previously reported by Nub News, McDonald's gained planning for its first restaurant in England's smallest county in January.

Recruitment for staff is underway, with the venue due to open some time in November.
