Uppingham Rotary has a new president after a recent meeting.

The club which meets on Mondays in the Falcon Hotel, saw a leadership handover on June 28th.

The incoming president is now Shane James of Allexton,, who replaces Carolyn Cartwright.

Uppingham First said: "Shane has worked with Rutland Telecom, Gigaclear and Boxcom over a number of years on the Digital Uppingham wireless and fibre broadband project. Her network contacts proved valuable in delivering the project and improving customer relations. Shane was also instrumental in delivering the Uppingham Webcam project, an Association of Market Towns (AMT) funding award winner.

"Shane is hardworking, diligent and people orientated. She has been making a significant contribution to her local community as a committed Rotarian championing worldwide causes to help those in need. It is no surprise that she is currently working with Rutland County Council to support the disadvantaged. Rotary is fortunate to have her as a champion. Expect an interesting year."

The post continued: "Rotary continues to go from strength to strength in Uppingham and guests are always welcome to join club members for dinner and discussion on a Monday evening in The Falcon Hotel. Government Covid-19 regulations permitting of course."
